THILO RUCK – GUITARIST
Thilo Ruck is a guitarist specialising in contemporary music. Working across classical and electric guitar, his practice connects 20th- and 21st-century repertoire, new commissions, improvisation and electronics. He has performed at international festivals and concert halls across Europe and beyond, both as a soloist and in collaborations with composers and ensembles.

Works by Nicolas Berge, Svetlana Maraš, Oliver Thurley and Fausto Romitelli explore excess, resistance and instability through feedback, distortion, repetition and fragile control.

Seven radically different ideas of what the guitar can be — each once claiming its own present, each falling into now.
Music by Fernande Peyrot, Ernst Krenek, Hans Werner Henze, Tristan Murail, Fausto Romitelli, Luciano Berio and Tara Jovana Valkonen reveals the 20th and 21st centuries not as a single development, but as a field of competing presents.

A substantial part of Thilo Ruck’s artistic practice is devoted to developing new repertoire in close collaboration with composers.
Recent and upcoming solo works include music by Fernando Manassero, Tamara Miller, Marta Haladzhun and Mathis Saunier.
Ruck also initiates new works as artistic co-director of Pony Says.
